How a flaming car led to one of biggest fires in California’s history

The Park Fire in the Sierra Nevada foothills, potentially sparked by an act of arson involving a flaming car pushed into a ravine, has rapidly grown to become California’s sixth-largest fire. This rapid expansion was due to several factors that had been building over the years. Two consecutive wet winters resulted in abundant grass and brush growth, which was then dried out by summer heatwaves, creating ideal fire conditions.
