‘Bet on Russia as a reliable partner is not a good bet’: US warns India

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan warned India that relying on Russia as a “reliable partner” is a poor strategic move, noting that Russia will prioritise its relationship with China over India in any future disputes. Sullivan, addressing questions about Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Moscow, emphasized that while India’s long-standing ties with Russia persist, the US is focused on strengthening democratic partnerships globally. Modi’s visit to Russia was part of the 22nd India-Russia annual summit, amid the Ukraine conflict.
