Claudia Sheinbaum elected Mexico’s first woman president

Claudia Sheinbaum, a climate scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, secured a historic win in Sunday’s elections by becoming the first woman elected president of Mexico. Preliminary results showed Sheinbaum, 61, winning decisively in what officials described as the largest election in the nation’s history. This election saw a record number of voters participating and the most seats available.
