DR Congo soldiers sentenced to death for fleeing battle

In North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo, 25 soldiers were sentenced to death for fleeing Rwanda-backed M23 rebels and theft. They deserted positions, stole goods, and were detained with wives. One got a 10-year sentence. Lawyer Jules Muvweko will appeal. Army spokesman Reagan Mbuyi Kalonji noted internal military divisions. Eight officers were sentenced to death in May.
