Niger group claims attack on China-backed pipeline, threatens more

An armed group opposing Niger’s ruling junta attacked and disabled a part of the country’s PetroChina-funded crude oil pipeline on Sunday night. The group announced the attack in a statement. The affected pipeline, with a capacity of 90,000 barrels per day (bpd), stretches nearly 2,000 km (1,243 miles) from Niger’s Agadem oilfield to the coast of Benin.
