Hamas announced Yahya Sinwar as its new political leader on Tuesday, following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh. Sinwar, accused of masterminding the October 7 attack on Israel, is one of Israel’s most wanted militants. The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades subsequently fired rockets towards Israel from the Gaza Strip.
