In response to Democratic calls for his disqualification, US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito explained in two letters that his wife, Martha-Ann Alito, was responsible for flying the flags, stating, “My wife is an independently minded private citizen. She makes her own decisions, and I honor her right to do so.”
